Trend Guard Trend + pullback

Two halves, one direction: one follows the trend — in as long as the price is above its EMA and BTC plays along. The other buys short pullbacks in the uptrend and sells on the first recovery. Long only, decided at the candle close, ideally on all twelve large coins at once.

How the bot thinksDiagram

How it works

The trend half
In as long as the candle closes above the EMA (default: EMA50 on daily candles) and the market weather is good. If the close falls below it, it exits. That way it stays in during long upward moves and stays out in downward phases.
The pullback half
Buys when RSI(2) falls below the threshold (default 10) and the price is above its SMA200 — a short dip in an intact trend. Sells on the first close above the SMA5.
The market weather
The trend half only enters when BTC is above its daily EMA (default 200, adjustable from 10 to 300). If BTC drops below it, it exits — even if its own coin is still rising.
When it decides
At the close of every candle of its timeframe — with daily candles once a day, five minutes after midnight (UTC). The signals come from the Binance candles; live trading happens on MEXC.

Three presets fill everything in with one click: Calm (1d, EMA150), Standard (1d, EMA50), Fast (12h, EMA100). No Top 50 — the presets have been tested on the large coins.

What the study says

Calculated with the same engine as the bot, on the twelve large coins with $100 each, leverage 1, fees and slippage as measured live plus a funding estimate. The learning period (2020 – June 2024) contains the big bull market; the test period from July 2024 is more honest.

PresetLearning period / yearTest period / yearCoins in profitDeepest drawdown
Calm · 1d · EMA150+96 %+9 %8 / 1224 % / 13 %
Standard · 1d · EMA50+90 %+19 %12 / 1227 % / 12 %
Fast · 12h · EMA100+179 %+17 %10 / 1229 % / 13 %

Result per year on the basket's $1,200, without compounding; drawdown of the whole basket in the learning / test period. On small timeframes the picture flips: 1h −19 %, 30m −65 %, 5m −535 % a year (test period) — there the costs eat every advantage.

What it is built for

  • Longer upward phases in which pullbacks stay short
  • Many large coins at once — the basket smooths out the single coin
  • If you want few decisions: one per candle, with 1d one a day

When it does not work

  • Sideways and down. Then the trend half stays out and earns nothing; pullbacks that keep falling cost money.
  • Small timeframes. Below 4h it switches so often that fees and slippage eat up the advantage.
  • Long only. It does not trade falling markets — it waits them out.
  • Patience. Drawdowns of 20–30 % and many months without profit are part of it; the result comes from a few long trends.
No bot always wins. Each of the eight has market phases in which it loses — that is why the box on the right is on this page at all. Let it run in the demo account until you have seen a bad phase, not just a good one.
Step by step

How to set it up

Real recordings from the bot setup — beginner, demo account. Logged in, you see the detailed version with every field and tips.

  1. 1Choose a bot

Trend Guard — trend and pullback, long only

Click the robot button at the top, then pick this bot in the bot window.

  2. 2Question 1 · What to trade?

    Coin and timeframe

Pick a coin and the timeframe (default 1d); the direction is fixed: long only.

  3. 3Question 2 · How much?

    Margin, leverage, buffer

Own margin, leverage, extra margin — below it the setup calculates volume, liquidation and committed money.

  4. 4Question 3 · How to trade?

    Calm (1d, EMA150), Standard (1d, EMA50), Fast (12h, EMA100).

  5. 5Question 4 · When to get out?

    No fixed stop

The exit is the rule itself: the trend flips, the price recovers, the market weather turns.

  6. 6Question 5 · Test first

One click runs all the numbers

Pick a period, then one button calculates fact sheet, backtest and basket — with costs as measured live.

  7. 7The verdict

One sentence that tells you where things stand

At the top one sentence: does the setting hold or not. Below it the fact sheet with all the numbers.

  8. 8The basket

The same setting on twelve coins

If it only works on one market, you will see it here — before real money is involved.

  9. 9Question 6 · Start

You start exactly what was tested

As a demo bot with play money — or live through your own exchange keys, with confirmation, emergency stop and limits.

  10. 10It runs

The card shows what it is thinking right now

In the bots panel: both halves, market weather, RSI(2) and when it last checked.
