Grid Sideways market

The Grid bot lays a price grid over the market and trades the gaps. When the price falls through a line, it buys. When it rises through one, it sells. It needs no opinion on the direction — only movement.

How the bot thinksDiagram

How it works

The grid
You set an upper and a lower bound and how many lines lie in between. The tighter the lines, the more trades — and the more fees.
The trading
There is an order at every line. When it is filled, the counter-order appears one line further. That way the bot earns a small piece from every swing.
The result
Every grid line is settled on its own. In the terminal you see for each line whether it is open and what it has earned so far.

What you set

SettingMeaning
Upper boundUpper end of the grid — above it the bot stops trading
Lower boundLower end — below it no more buying
Number of linesHow fine the grid is. More lines means more trades and more fees
StakeHow much capital is committed to the grid in total

Everything through forms — no code. Backtest and the Top 50 optimizer run at the push of a button.

What it is built for

  • Calm sideways phases with regular ups and downs
  • Markets with fluctuation but no clear direction
  • If you have no opinion on the direction but expect movement

When it does not work

  • Breakout from the range. If the price runs below the lower bound, the bot is stuck on all the lines it bought and stops buying more. That is the classic grid loss.
  • Clear trend. In an uptrend the bot sells too early and watches the move go by.
  • Grid too tight. With very small spacing, the fee eats the profit per line.
No bot always wins. Each of the eight has market phases in which it loses — that is why the box on the right is on this page at all. That is exactly what the demo account is for: let it run until you have seen a bad phase, not just a good one.
Step by step

How to set it up

Real recordings from the bot setup — beginner, demo account. Logged in, you see the detailed version with every field and tips.

  1. 1Choose a bot

Grid bot — for markets that swing

Click the robot button at the top, then pick this bot in the bot window.

  2. 2Question 1 · What to trade?

    Pick a coin

Pick a coin. The grid trades long: it buys at lines below the price and sells one line higher.

  3. 3Question 2 · How much?

Spread the money across the lines

Own margin, leverage, extra margin — below it the setup calculates volume, liquidation and committed money.

  4. 4Question 3 · How to trade?

    The net: width and lines

    Four presets: Wide ± 25 %, Safe ± 15 %, Balanced ± 8 %, Active ± 4 % — every line at least 0.75 % apart.

  5. 5Question 4 · When to get out?

    Profit target and loss limit

Profit target and loss limit for the whole bot — both always visible.

  6. 6Question 5 · Test first

One click runs all the numbers

Pick a period, then one button calculates fact sheet, backtest and basket — with costs as measured live.

  7. 7The verdict

One sentence that tells you where things stand

At the top one sentence: does the setting hold or not. Below it the fact sheet with all the numbers.

  8. 8The basket

The same setting on twelve coins

If it only works on one market, you will see it here — before real money is involved.

  9. 9Question 6 · Start

You start exactly what was tested

As a demo bot with play money — or live through your own exchange keys, with confirmation, emergency stop and limits.
